Following an event in Leeds which discussed feminist approaches to the mental health needs of women and girls back in January 2020, the Women and Girls Initiative (WGI), Tavistock Institute of Human Relations, DMSS Research and the Child and Women Abuse Studies Unit (CWASU) have come together to write a briefing document aimed at commissioners, funders and professionals.
 

Overview of the briefing document 

The document has been created to give a brief introduction to feminist approaches to women's mental health, explaining why they are needed and the value they add.

The specific areas covered are:

• A brief overview of the relationship between gender inequality and women’s mental health.
• An outline of the key role trauma-informed feminist services play in meeting the needs of women.
• Examples of such services funded by The National Lottery Community Fund’s Women and Girls Initiative.
