Support from Sheffield Family Centres and Sheffield Parent Hub

Sheffield Family Centres and Sheffield Parent Hub contacted us recently to share some fantastic resources which they provide to help parents and carers.

On a weekly basis they offer activity sessions online via Microsoft Teams:

  • Baby groups where new parents and carers can connect, share experiences and learn simple play ideas
  • Baby massage sessions for babies up to 6 months old
  • Breastfeeding groups for mums who want some support
  • Bookstart corner for parents and carers of children aged 1 to 2.5 years old

This link takes you to their Eventbrite booking page and, as Covid-19 restrictions begin easing, they are planning to hold more face to face activities in line with government guidelines.

Home based activities

To inspire parents and carers with activities which can be done in the home, their Facebook page is regularly updated with new ideas.

Support for Dads and Father figures

A weekly event takes place for Dads and Father figures in the Sheffield area. It's an informal group, giving an opportunity to catch up, chat and cover any concerns Dads may be having, either work related, family related or other.

A special Father's Day seminar will be held on 19th June 2021 looking at:

  • The importance of Fatherhood
  • Promoting positive relationships between father and child
  • Promoting the father's parenting skills
  • Exploring child friendly activities
  • The father's role in supporting the child with managing emotions and risky behaviour
  • Role modelling care and respect

Mental health and wellbeing

Recognising the importance of mental health and wellbeing for parents, resources are available from the Centre for Child and Parent Support. This link will takes you there.
