As the only charity in Sheffield that supports children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, we want as many people as possible to find out how we can help.

One of the ways we do this is through our Twitter and Facebook pages. But we've also recently created some new videos which share more about Haven and how we can help children and young people. There are also videos with tips to help children manage their emotions and practical information on making a plan to feel safe.

More about the support offered by Haven

The help we offer is aimed at children and young people aged 0 to 25 years old. We use games and fun activities, often delivered in schools, and children always have a choice about whether they want to take part.

We really want, most of all, for people to feel safe and comfortable, and to have lots of fun.
-  Kerry Albiston, Haven Director

Many sessions are group activities and on the first video you can hear children talking about their experience of the support they've received from Haven. It also demonstrates the sort of activities children do on our programmes.

Some of our stats from the last year

In the first video, you'll see lots of statistics about Haven's services in the last year:

✅ Supported over 2,800 children and their families
✅ 90% of parents and carers said Haven had had a positive impact on their child
✅ 86% of children said they knew more about how to stay safe
✅ Volunteers gave 460 hours of their time

The videos currently available

At the time of writing, we have three videos on the page:

  • Who are Haven and how do we support children and young people (5.55 minutes)
  • Tips to help children and young people to manage their emotions (1.30 minutes)
  • Practical steps children and young people can take to make a plan to feel safe (1.57 minutes)

We're planning on adding more in the future so keep checking back!

We hope you enjoy watching the videos and would like to ask a small favour from you!

Please share the website link below with family, friends and work colleagues to help more people in Sheffield find out how Haven can help their family.
