Haven works with children and young people aged 0-25 years old in the Sheffield and surrounding area who are, or have been, affected by domestic abuse.
We offer a variety of individual and group support programmes. Please look through the information below to see which would suit you best.
On the CandYP (Children and Young People) programme, our trained practitioner will work with children and young people and their parent or carer. With our support, they will begin sharing their thoughts and feelings to help them talk about difficult memories and the things they have been through together.
We normally offer six sessions which last for up to an hour, but each family is different. Sessions normally take place in school but can be arranged in the family home.

Our Bouncing Back group for ages 5-18 has been developed to help children and young people feel less alone with their feelings and to give them somewhere to connect with others. Through group activities, they will be encouraged to express their emotions in safe, healthy ways and enable them to feel more settled within.
Delivered by a trained practitioner, with support from a volunteer, our group programmes last for 6 sessions and include around 6-8 children and young people. They are held either in a school (during school hours) or in a community setting or online after school.

Our trained practitioners often work with individually with a child or young person, addressing their specific concerns and devising bespoke sessions and activities. The practitioner will speak with the parent or carer before any sessions take place so they can discuss any concerns about their emotions or behaviour.
We aim to deliver between 6 and 10 bespoke sessions which usually take place weekly and last around an hour. They are often held in school but can also be arranged in the family home, community or online.

Our priority has always been to ensure we can continue supporting children, young people and their families.
At the start of the Covid pandemic, we adapted our programmes to make them accessible in a range of ways. We now offer virtual sessions, along with sessions in the home, outdoors and in schools.
Full PPE safety measures are in place to enable our practitioners to work with families and we have also developed online resources.
