  1. About us

Our approach

Haven works with children and young people aged 0-25 years old in the Sheffield and surrounding area who are, or have been, affected by domestic abuse.

Our services include bespoke programmes and activities to support children, young people and their wider family.

We also deliver training to professionals and individuals to help build their skills and knowledge when supporting children and young people.

We adopt a needs-led, trauma informed approach

Our work is based on prevention, crisis and recovery.

  • Practitioners undertake continuous professional development to enable them to understand how trauma affects the lives of children and young people.
  • Our programmes of support help children, young people and their safe carer/parent/family to understand how their experiences impact on their lives.
  • The support provided is needs-led and appropriate, helping children and young people to understand what has happened and then start the recovery process.

Participatory

The children and young people we work with are at the core of our work. We believe that they should have a voice, be heard and their views acted upon.

Our programmes and their ongoing development ensure that the children and young people are included in how our services evolve and all areas of our work.
